From LA, head up the Pacific Coast Highway towards San Francisco for what has been defined as one of the best road trips in the world. The scenery is truly amazing and if you’ve got your camera ready, expect to do lots of stops along the way to capture the memories. We’d recommend a slight detour when you begin so you head to Malibu first, purely so you can enjoy the amazing sandy beaches there. Then it’s back onto the highway, where you can take in as many epic destinations as you like. For instance, Santa Cruz, Big Sur and the Julia Pfeffer Burns State Park are amazing places to visit. In fact, at the state park you can see the waterfall that falls beautifully down to the beach – a must have for any Instagram.

If you’re driving all the way up the Pacific Coast Highway, carry on to San Francisco and drive over the famous Golden Gate Bridge. Then spend some time in San Francisco, perhaps check out Alcatraz or take a cable car down the iconic steep streets. It’s also home to the famous Redwood trees so make sure to put San Francisco on your list.

California has some of the most beautiful National Parks in the country and you’d be remiss not to visit them. Joshua Tree National Park is one that’s very popular with our guests. As part of your road trip you can arrange to camp there. However, if you’re heading over to the equally iconic Death Valley, note that it’s famous for being the hottest and driest place in North America. So maybe you won’t want to camp there!
